Cars will be left on the driveway, train passengers might just get a seat and bus passengers will, for one day at least, no longer form an orderly British queue at the bus stop.
Cycle to Work Day is the only day of the year when we are all encouraged to travel to work on two wheels.
Whether that's by bicycle, scooter or wheelbarrow (!) we are huge supporters of anything that provides a more economical and greener future for our busy towns and cities.
Here are 4 other reasons to support #cycletoworkday this year.
The real aim of the day is to get people used to travelling to work by other means. The team behind Cycle to Work Day are aiming for 1 million people to travel to work on two wheels by 2021. Imagine the positive impact on the environment, health and wellbeing and the economy if this target was reached?
2. Money Saving
The Office of National Statics report across the UK 13% of weekly household expenditure is spent on transport. With rail and tube fares increasing every year it is important to celebrate other forms of (free) transport.
3. Burn Baby Burn
Did you know using an adult scooter can burn up to 300 calories an hour? Cycling at a steady speed can burn up to 48 calories a mile. Using your commute to get your daily dose of exercise is not only great for the body but great for your brain. Exercising has been proven to boost concentration levels.
4. Pledges Mean Prizes
If you're not convinced by the health, wellbeing, ecnomoic (for your pocket) benefits of #cycletoworkday maybe cold hard cash and / or prizes are more up your street? The 2016 event has over £3,000 worth of prizes to be won and all you have to do is pledge to go 2 wheeled. Find out more here >>
