ADVENTURE WITH MICRO

SCOOTER AID & PIMLICO TOY LIBRARY

We love to hear of where our scooters find their forever homes. Especially those donated through our Scooter Aid scheme.

Here is a press release from the Pimlico Toy Library which tells their story. With thanks to the Toy Library; wishing you every success, we hope that the library continues to flourish.

Pimlico Toy Library

Developing children’s skills through play with the help of Micro Scooters UK.

Anna Gibson and Philippa Gogarty, the co-founders of Micro Scooters UK, set out to improve children’s lives, one scooter at a time. Knowing that not every family can afford one of their scooters, they decided to launch a Toy Library Donation Scheme to make them accessible to every child.

Pimlico Toy Library, in London was the first to benefit from the scheme launched on July 12th 2011

Sadly 42% of the under 5’s living in the Churchill Ward, where the toy Library is based, live in poverty.

Pimlico Toy Library currently works with 296 children aged 0-11 years. It relies solely on charitable donations.

The fantastic news is that in 2018, Micro Scooters has generously donated ten scooters with all the safety accessories. Not only are scooters fun, they help with a child’s development of balance, coordination and core muscle strength. Pimlico Toy Library’s aim is to help children learn the skills they need to settle well into nursery and school, improving their present mental and physical health as well as their long-term life-chances. Micro Scooters donation will make a huge difference particularly to our families who cannot afford to buy their own scooter.
