February half term scooting adventures

  • 2 min read

It's February half term. Having been cooped up all winter it's time for you and your children to uncurl from your dens of hibernation and escape into the big outdoors for a scooting adventure. If you're stuck for inspiration, we have put this list together for you to make this week fly by. We have even broken it down by age. Genius! And in a blink of an eye they'll be heading back to school before you know it! But with some seriously marvellous memories in tow. Here are some brilliant things to do on your scooter this week:

0-5 year olds:

  1. Scooter Fancy Dress – the only limit to what you can do with your scooter is your imagination. Perhaps you could be a knight on a horse, a pirate on a ship, a princess in a tower
  2. Silly scooter sounds – telling stories (that include lots of noises) are so much better while on your scooter.
  3. Scooter Track – if at home or in the park it’s easy to create a scooter course from everyday materials, leaves, stones, sticks will all help you to plan an obstacle course.
  4. Library Scoot. Why not visit your local library on your scooter? Find a scooter safe path, arrange to go with your friends and take a rucksack for your books.

hoyle 5-9 year olds:

  1. Head to the skate park - bond in a fit of the giggles and take on the ramps with your children on your own scooter.
  2. Go birdwatching on your scooter- There are some beautiful nature reserves around the UK. Failing that grab some binoculars and head to the woodland.
  3. Nature hunt scoots – whether at home, in the garden, or at your local park its easy to create your very own scavenger hunt. Get the children to create their own wish list before you go. Then make a flask of hot chocolate and add 'mallows for the prize.
  4. Duck duck Goose (or walk walk scoot!)- Instead of running the circle, get children to jump on their scooters and race to the nearest tree. The first one back gets to sit in the circle.

  1. Geocaching- locating treasure that others have left for you to find. It is very exciting. The best place to start is www.geocaching.com
  2. Secret scooting club – the children could create a “secret” scooting club. Invite friends over, scoot to the woods and create a den for them to discuss all things scooter.
  3. Pokémon Go- time to brush up on the latest Pokémon news and get scooting with your 'tweenager' to find the latest monsters.
So there you have it in a nutshell. We hope you all have a fantastic and scootful February half term. Don't forget to get in touch with your photos and let us know how you got on.
